Benefits of Sound Blaster Roar 2

Design - One of the best features and changes that have been made to the Roar 2 is the size. It is now 20% smaller than the original. This makes it appear more sleek and stylish and is easier to place in the car or in small spaces. It is also lighter, so more convenient when you are traveling. However although lighter it is incredibly sturdy. Another bonus is that you now have two color options of white and black, so you can color coordinate with your furniture, laptop or other portable smart device.

Connectivity - What is truly impressive about this wireless stereo is that it connects via NFC (Near Field Communication) which is quite unusual for a stereo at this price. So as long as you have compatible NFC devices you can make use of this feature. Bluetooth of course is a pretty general standard of every wireless stereo and it uses Bluetooth 3.0.

You can also use the included USB cable to connect to your laptop or tablet to create an additional stereo system. This is particularly useful when watching films or music videos on screen. The ability to connect to PS4 is also a welcome addition as this just makes game play that much more interactive and enjoyable.

There is also the option to play music straight from a microSD card.

Sound Quality - The Roar 2 lives up to its name as the sound you get from this small speaker is impressively loud with a crystal clear sound quality. This is made possible by the 5 drivers, 2 amps and the subwoofer that make up this wireless stereo.

You then have the added extras of both Roar and TetraBass, that you can choose to switch on at your convenience. The Roar feature provides a more fuller sound at lower volumes while the TetraBass helps to boost bass levels at much lower volumes, but without overdoing being too overwhelming.

Flexible stereo - The Roar 2 has been cleverly designed to be used in two different ways. When used horizontally it gives stereo sound quality, and a balanced sound. Alternatively it can be placed vertically which will give a more directed and loud sound.

Another smart feature of the Roar 2 is that it can also act as a sound recorder. You can record audio via the speaker into a microSD card. This is particularly useful for dictation when away from your computer or when traveling.

Battery Life - The battery once fully charged lasts up to 8 hours. Therefore no changes have been made from the previous model. You can charge the stereo via the AC power adapter for a quick charge of just 2.5 hours as well as being able to use the USB cable for convenience. However there has been the development of being able to use the stereo as a charger for your smartphone when on the move.

The Good Stuff:
  • 8 hr battery life
  • Flexible Stereo Placement Options
  • Enhanced sound quality at low volumes
  • Connects to PS4 to create stereo sound
  • Voice recorder and built in MP3 Player
  • Speaker Phone
  • Play music straight from microSD
The Bad Stuff:
  • Can sometimes hear white noise when amp is activated
  • No remote

Customer Opinions

Obviously customers have been incredibly impressed overall with the Roar 2. Many in particular find the new smaller look a lot more practical and pleasing to the eye. A choice of black or white color options has also been most favorable.

The biggest comments though have been about the improved sound quality. With many customers commenting that it sounds even better than the original Roar, which many did not think was possible. Overall this wireless stereo is fantastic value for money.
